 Job Description: Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic and treatment services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Position reports directly to the Psychiatric Medical Director. Deliver clinical psychiatric services consistent with approved program/services models, recovery philosophy of care, Board policies, agency administrative procedures, and applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Works collegially with staff from all professional disciplines as clinical leader of an interdisciplinary team committed to assuring high quality coordinated care for members of the target population. Participates in the development of individual service plans which target appropriate goals/objectives to address problems identified during the psychiatric/behavioral assessment; implements psychiatric interventions including but not limited to, prescribing/monitoring of psychiatric medications; monitors the individual’s response to psychiatric/behavioral interventions and adjusts interventions to the individual’s changing needs. Excellent knowledge of atypical anti-psychotic meds, medication management, rapid emergency psychiatric assessment, crisis stabilization in patient experience and documentation skills are very necessary to perform job duties.
Education: Degreed as a medical doctor and licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas; Board Certified or eligible in Psychiatry.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience preferred.
Hours of Work: 8:00AM —5:00PM Monday through Friday. Adjustment in work hours may be warranted to meet the needs of the program.
Licenses/Certifications: Must have a valid Texas drivers’ license; have valid insurance and be insurable with Center’s insurance company. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA) certification as well as Illness, Management and Recovery (IMR) certification.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods of time; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; physically able to perform job duties; ability to pass the Preventative Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) Training as well as all other physical requirements for this position.
