 Job Description: As a member of the Adult Mental Health Case Management Department, contributes in a peer support capacity to facilitate recovery and enhance wellness. Serve as a role model for recovery, staff and consumers. Supports people using services to develop self-help skills. Provides practical support for people using services to access and utilize community support networks, such as transportation support, accompaniment, etc. Educate people about the range of available services in and beyond the agency. Assist peers in the recovery of mental illness by providing independent living, coordination, employment-related, and housing-related services to enable the individual to reside in the community and avoid more restrictive levels of treatment, participate as member of peers’ interdisciplinary team; complete all Center-required documentation in Agency clinical software system.
Education: Required High School Diploma or high school equivalency certificate issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state.
Experience: At least one cumulative year of receiving mental health services from or through the Department of State Health Services.
Hours of Work: 9:00am—1:00pm daily; schedule may be flexible in order to attend meetings, scheduled appointments, etc.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas driver’s license and must be insurable by Agency insurance.
Physical Requirements: Light lifting under 15lbs., moderate carrying 15-44lbs., simple grasping, walking, sitting, standing, operating a motor vehicle, operating office equipment including a computer, ability to see and hear (with aid), ability to read, write and count, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to work closely with others; ability to pass the Preventative Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) Training as well as all other physical requirements for this position.
