Job Description: This position serves as the Unit Director of a day habilitation facility-serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The position is responsible for supervision and training to direct care and support staff for the individuals receiving services. Serve as facility coordinator and a member of the IDD Management Team. Coordinate with MHMR Service Coordinator or Private Provider’s case coordinator to implement any changes in requested services for day programs as identified by the person’s PDP, assessments, and special reviews. Serve as an advocate on behalf of all people being served according to their rights, any restrictions, and their personal choices. Monitor the delivery of services and supports from the unit, to ensure the person’s choices and needs are being addressed as outlined within all of the Policy and Procedures of MHMRABV, Day Program procedures, HHSC IDD Services, including but not limited toDARS, TxHmL, HCS, and ICF/IDD guidelines.
Education/Experience: High School diploma and 8 years of relevant experience working with people with developmental disabilities, 4 of which is supervisory; or Bachelor’s degree in behavioral, social science, humanities, or education field, 4 years relevant experience working with persons with IDD; 2 of which is supervisory.
Hours of Work: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday
Licenses/Certifications: Valid TX Driver’s License, and be insurable by Agency insurance.
Physical Requirements: Sight; hearing; ability to bend and stoop. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; must have the ability to drive a motor vehicle; and to be able lift more than 30 pounds; ability to pass the Preventative Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) Training as well as all other physical requirements for this position.
