Job Description: Perform direct support professional duties for persons with an intellectual developmental disability (IDD) or related condition in a day habilitation setting to assistance with obtaining, keeping, or improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to live successfully in the community and to participate in home and community life. Day habilitation is provided in a group or classroom type setting and includes personal assistance for individuals who cannot manage their personal-care needs during day habilitation, and assistance with medications and performing tasks delegated by a registered nurse. Assist persons participating in the program with and to strengthen leisure/social activities, daily living skills, and community awareness activities. Responsible for the development and implementation of personal outcomes strategies. Also responsible for transportation of program participants to programs, activities, and services; will serve on service planning team of assigned case load.
Education: Require High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Prefer experience working with persons with intellectual developmental disabilities; experience tracking and recording information and progress; quickly manage stressful situations responsibly and effectively
Hours of Work: 8-5, M-F; may require travel to assist at other day hab sites in service area during work hours.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas driver’s license and must be insurable by Agency insurance.
Physical Requirements: Sight, hearing, ability to walk, ability to talk, ability to lift up to 30lbs., ability to communicate effectively; ability to pass the Preventative Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) Training as well as all other physical requirements for this position.
