VACANCY POSTING UPDATE

 

NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEES

 

As per the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (S.1200), all new employees are required to provide documents that show proof of employment authorization and identity, (i.e., Social Security Account Number Card and Driver’s License or similar document issued for the purpose of identification by a state).  Alternate documents may be accepted as per regulations.

 

For insurance purposes, driving records will be checked on all employees that are required to drive as stated in their job description and job duties.  If an employee is deemed uninsurable, employment may be terminated.

                                                                                     

A conviction related to criminal homicide, kidnapping and false imprisonment; indecency with a child; agreement to abduct from custody; sale or purchase of a child; arson; robbery; sexual assault; aggravated assault; injury to a child, elderly individual or disabled individual; abandoning or endangering a child; aiding suicide and aggravated robbery make you ineligible for employment.  MHMR Authority of Brazos Valley may determine other criminal offenses for which a conviction may be considered a bar to employment.  The names of all prospective employees are cleared through the Texas Department of Public Safety to determine the existence of such records prior to being offered employment with the agency.  Any prospective employee who has lived for any time during the past two years outside of the State of Texas will be fingerprinted and cleared through the FBI.

 

A physical examination, at your expense, is required if you are offered employment.  The form will be sent with the offer of employment.  The physical examination is a pre-employment condition and due back to the Human Resource office before your first day on the job.

Job Description:  Assesses Medicaid eligibility for Mental Health clients via screening referral/form and assists with application process for Social Security Disability, Medicaid and Medicare benefits; Serves as a liaison between internal departments and external agencies to ensure application process completion;  Submits clinical records to the local Social Security Administration and the State Disability Determination Examiners office; Represents clients during the Office of Hearing and Appeals process; Attends monthly COMNETS and quarterly consortium meeting and provides training for the local authority as requested;    Makes appropriate referrals and enters data into software system;  Requires travel to the six (6) surrounding counties;  Must have reliable transportation.

Education:  High School diploma or GED.

Job Description:  Provides prompt face-to-face crisis assessment, crisis intervention, services, and short term intensive mental health treatment and support for adults and children experiencing a psychiatric crisis.  Provides services as a member of a mobile crisis outreach team (MCOT) designed to reach individuals at their place of residence, school and other community based safe locations as a means of diversion from jails, emergency rooms, and hospitals.

Duties include accompanying specially trained Sheriff’s officers (CIT) to individual’s home to provide crisis assessments; service plan development and implementation; access to medication services; short-term monitoring and follow-up; inter- and intra- agency coordination of support services; family education and support; and client advocacy in the community where client is located.

Education:  Requires Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral, Social Science, Humanities or Education field.

Experience:  Prefer prior experience working with persons with major mental illness at a minimum.  Prior experience working with children and adolescents, as well as knowledge of co-occurring substance abuse disorders preferred; Must be able to work independently as well as with a team; Good organizational skills are a must.
