Salary: $25,815 to $29,047 Annually                   Salary is based on education & experience

Job Description: Performs role as the direct support professional and is responsible for the routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for specified individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in routine and crisis situations residing in an ICF-ID residential setting. Responsibilities may include such duties as grooming, bathing, meal preparations, feeding, observing and reporting individuals’ conditions and behaviors; interacting with individuals therapeutically, participating in individualized training and/or active treatment programs; Implements habilitation and rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and treatment programs with individuals specifically related to individual individual’s programs; Teaches life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene to individuals; Participates in the development of the individual’s treatment plan; Observes individuals for signs and symptoms of disease, injury, reactions to medications, or other conditions which warrant medical intervention and properly documents observations; Reports significant changes in individual’s physical condition or behavior and records information on individuals as appropriate; Administers first aid to individuals as appropriate; Attends to health-care needs of individuals under supervision of medical personnel; Evacuates individuals in the event of a fire, natural disaster, or other emergency situation or drill; Prevents or manages aggressive behavior among individuals and administers CPR in emergency intervention.  Transport and escort individuals to activities or appointments. Therapist Tech 1 is required to accurately document individual’s behavior(s) throughout the daily schedule, including response to home activities, home training and unusual incidents. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position must comply with CMS’s Omnibus COVID-19 Health Care Staff Vaccination rules published in the Federal Register on November 5, 2021. COVID-19 vaccine immunization is required and must be completed prior to hiring.
Education
:  Require High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state. Must demonstrate and maintain competency in job functions.
Experience:  Preferred experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Hours of Work:  12pm-8pm shift, 5 days a week
Licenses/Certifications:  Valid Texas driver's license and must be insurable by Agency insurance.
Physical Requirements:  Light lifting under 15 lbs., moderate carrying 15-44 lbs., simple grasping, walking, sitting, standing, operating a motor vehicle, operating office equipment, ability to see and hear (with aid), ability to read, write and count, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to work closely with others.
